Four years ago, we began exploring free and open-source software, Inkscape, to create our own digital sewing patterns. Today, we’re revisiting the first two videos in our tutorial series, designed to help you use Inkscape to develop your digital pattern-cutting skills.
In this two-part tutorial, we demonstrate how to alter a basic skirt block and transform it into an A-line skirt. You’ll learn to:
- Import a tracing layer
- Draw pattern pieces
- Use slashing and pivoting techniques
- Redraw and smooth new lines
- Add seam allowances, a waistband, and text details
If you are new to Inkscape, you just might find some of the information useful!
